Sewing with Knits 101 -Raglan Top

Join Stephanie Bracelin of, a local sewist and blogger for a super fun day learning to sew knits by constructing a Raglan top. You will learn how knits differ from wovens, to trace patterns, how to do basic fit alterations, how to sew knits on a domestic sewing machine and serger (sergers will be provided!), how to attach bands, and how to hem knits.

Cost: $40 + $3 supply fee due to instructor (includes pattern, Lunch, and Pattern Grid Paper for Tracing Pattern)

If your measurements fall outside the size range below, contact instructor (, and a different pattern with the same style lines will be provided.

  • Bust: 31.5"-50.4"
  • Waist: 23.6"-44.1"
  • Hips: 33.9"-53.5"
  • Petite: 5'1"-5'3"
  • Regular: 5'4"-5'6"
  • Tall: 5'7"-5'9"
Supplies Needed:
  • Sewing machine in good working condition
  • Polyester thread such as So Fine (Cotton thread will break easily in knit garments)
  • Pre-washed knit jersey fabric with 30-50% stretch
    • Short sleeves 1.25-1.75 yrds (depending on size)
    • Three Quarters Sleeve: 2-2.5 yards (depending on size)
    • Long Sleeve: 1.5-2.75 yards (dependent on size)
  • Paper and sewing scissors
  • Pencil
  • Rotary cutter, mat, and ruler that is at least 18" long
  • Stretch or Ballpoint (Jersey) machine needles
  • Twin Jersey Stretch needle for hem (optional)
  • Small clips or ball point pins
  • Pattern weights (optional)

We are currently looking for: 
  • Assistant Technician-- Must have an attention to detail, be willing to learn, be on time/reliable. No experience necessary, we will train you. Wage based on experience. Apply in the shop Tuesday-Friday, ask for Holly.

  • Kit/BOM Specialist- This position requires an attention to detail, accurate rotary cutting skills, organization skills, and self-motivation. You must be able to stand during your shift and lift 40#.  Apply in the shop Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat, or Sunday during normal business hours. Wages based on experience.

  • Sales Associate- Must love people, have strong customer service skills, be a problem solver, be willing to learn, be self-motivated, have sewing and/or quilting experience, and have weekend availability. Apply in the shop Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat, or Sunday during normal business hours. Wages based on experience.
